I have had a passion for family history since my late teens, and have spent endless hours tracing my own ancestors at the Lancashire Archives in Preston. Now that I'm familiar with some of the records there, I am keen to help you learn more about your own ancestors from the north west of England.
In 2015 and 2016, I was commissioned by Wall-To-Wall Television to provide some information relating to the episode of Who Do You Think You Are? about Sir Ian McKellen. The following year, I appeared on Clitheroe-based Ribble FM to talk about my work, and contributed a short article for Family Tree Magazine's feature on regional family history societies in December 2017.
During 2018 I provided long-term research for a Yale University project centred on bills of exchange issued in Britain between c.1750 and 1850.
I offer a bespoke research service, and can tailor any search to concentrate on any aspect of your ancestry that you wish to focus on. However, I do not undertake searches for living people.
If you're looking for someone to undertake paid research into your Lancashire roots - whether because you haven't got time to view the records yourself, don't know where to start or even live in another country - please contact me to see whether I can help to solve your ancestral mysteries. I have a particular interest in Catholic records, and prefer to concentrate on the pre-1900 period.
If you are a family history, local history or heritage society (or another organisation seeking a speaker with a historical theme), you may wish to visit the History Talks page for a current list of available presentations that I can offer.
